Fire Pit Art
Fire Pit Art: A Gathering Place for Family & Friends!
Creating exceptional fire pits requires a distinct blend of creativity, expertise, and business savvy. Fire Pit Art® was conceived when Rick Wittrig experienced a fire pit from a big box store disintegrate, leading to a dangerous yard fire. This incident drove Wittrig to leverage his extensive career skills to craft luxurious fire pits designed for durability and safety.
A superior product alone doesn’t make a successful business. Wittrig’s vision extended to creating fire pits that are not only visually stunning but also safe and enduring. Today, Rick Wittrig is recognized as one of the leading artisans in the fire pit industry.
Luxury Fire Pit Business on a Global Scale
Rick Wittrig’s fire pits have gained worldwide recognition, showcased at events like the Olympics and featured on ESPN. His blend of functionality and artistry has drawn attention from prestigious brands such as Marriott and Lamborghini, as well as luxury resorts and celebrities. Fire Pit Art® has also appeared on popular TV shows like Shipping Wars and HGTV.
Each fire pit is uniquely labeled and numbered, crafted from durable mild carbon steel. Designed for longevity, they feature high-temperature-resistant coatings, rain drains, and customizable options. The maintenance-free iron oxide patina deepens to a rich mahogany shade over time, making these fire pits a timeless addition to any setting.
Fire Pit Art Natural Patina Steel Fire Pit
Steel, a robust and durable metal, is created by alloying iron with other elements. The black patina finish not only enhances its visual appeal but also improves resistance to extreme temperatures and weather. A patinated steel fire pit is more than just an outdoor ornament—it’s an investment in style and longevity, offering both charm and dependable performance for years to come.
Fire Pit Art The Patina Process
Unfinished cast metals like iron, aluminum, and bronze are known for their longevity, even in harsh conditions. As these metals are exposed to the elements, they naturally undergo patination—a process where a thin oxide layer forms, slowing further corrosion. This patina, seen as a rust-like color, appears on Fire Pit Art® fire pits before they’re first used.
Each Fire Pit Art® fire pit is meticulously crafted by hand from durable quarter-inch mild carbon steel. The steel is sandblasted before applying a special formula that ensures an even patina development. When you receive your fire pit, it will have a dusty rust appearance, but after the first fire, the patina will deepen to a rich mahogany hue.
Fire Pit Art Steel-Based Fire Pits
Fire Pit Art® specializes in steel fire pits known for their durability, strength, and versatility. Unlike traditional materials like stone or brick, steel offers superior longevity and resilience, making it the preferred choice for both stationary and mobile fire pits.
Stainless steel fire pits are particularly favored for their sleek, modern design and rust-proof qualities, although they require regular maintenance. The black patina finish is popular for its aesthetic appeal and rust resistance.
Fire Pit Art’s Products and Craftsmanship
Each fire pit created by Fire Pit Art tells a story, crafted by the skilled hands of metal artist Rick Wittrig. His passion for the art of metalwork is evident in every piece, transforming raw materials into stunning works of art.
Wittrig meticulously handcrafts each fire pit, using robust metal and an internal welding technique to seamlessly connect the bowl to the base. This challenging process results in a smooth, seamless joint with no visible welds.
